balding/hair loss?
Saturday, April 25th, 2009How can I thicken my hair, ie. grow more?
Saturday, April 25th, 2009My hair isn’t as thick as it was when I was younger. I’m sure it’s a combination of my poor diet (I’m terrible for not getting my five-a-day!), and also daily heat treatment – I curl it every day.
Is it possible to get my thicker hair back if I switch to a healthier diet and maybe take some supplements? What are the best supplements for hair? Or is hair-loss pretty much irreversible?

My guinea pig has 6 spots of hair loss ranging in size from 1/4 to 1 inch. I’m not sure what is causing it.
Thursday, April 23rd, 2009I have done some research on this, and it seems they can get fungal infections, parasites or bacterial infections. She is not scratching and does not have any redness, swelling, bite marks, drainage, or any visible worms or fleas. Our vet is treating her for a bacterial infection, but I am not convinced this is the proper treatment. Any suggestions?

My Cat had red warm ears, itching and hair loss?
Thursday, April 23rd, 2009This problem with my cat has been an off and on again battle with him for years. He has done pretty good the past two years. It usually seems to happen in the spring and summer.
His symptoms are- ears red and itching, then he will get scabs around ears and back of neck. He also gets alot of hair loss that comes out in clumps, dandruff is present. When he shakes hair just flies off him.
He is an indoor cat, I do have a screened in porch which he has gone out in these past couple of weeks since the weather is getting warmer.
I have treated him for fleas and ear mites. Symptoms seem (red ears, itching) seem to get better off and on throughout the day. I have taken him to the vet numerous times. One vet gave him a steriod shot and antibiotic, it helped for a month or so and would come back. Another vet told me to treat him with with flea treatment, it worked pretty well, but this seems to come back every year. We have also tried him on a number of vet approved diets. Right now he is on a dry food diet with no cornmeal. Its a natural diet. He has a history of bladder infections.
I have one other cat, that is acting perfectly normal. No signs or symptoms whatsoever. She has never had any symptoms when he has had these outbreaks.
What in the world could it be?
